How does Profhilo® work?
The Profhilo works by stimulating collagen and elastin, increasing hydration in the deeper layers of the skin, giving your skin more of a natural glow and a distinct revitalisation.
Profhilo enhances tissue health and restoration. In that sense, beyond simply being a skin booster, Profhilo also helps tighten and lift the skin tissue aiding overall appearance, particularly for lower regions of the face.
Is the Profhilo® treatment painful?
Profhilo is an injectable treatment, so like any injectable treatment, there may be some mild discomfort, but most people find it easily tolerable especially because the cleverly scientifically proven 5 point technique. You may experience a short-lived tingling/stinging sensation of the collagen-boosting liquid into the five key points on your face, starting with each side of the cheek, next to the ear, then on to the nasolabial fold, jaw and chin.
Are there any after effects to be aware of?
Not at all – Profhilo is a very safe treatment with no long-term negative effects. Following injection, you may naturally experience some slight redness or bruising, but this will typically fade away within a few hours and is nothing to be concerned about. To date, Profhilo has been applied to over a million patients worldwide with no known cases of patients suffering from any serious negative effects.
How many sessions will I need and how long until I see results?
The effects of Profhilo on the appearance of your skin are almost immediate. After just one treatment session (2ml) you will notice your skin looking revitalised and brighter. Profhilo then continues to work at a gradual, steady rate and over time you will notice a continuous improvement. The Big Question! What is the difference between Profhilo and other Skin Boosters?
Profhilo has one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin. The stimulation results have significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.
So, which treatment is best?
Well, there is no right answer to this question. Profhilo is not better than skin boosters and vice versa. The treatments have their own special qualities and have been proven to be effective in their respective domains, giving significant results if done properly. More importantly, it is imperative and essential that the treatment that is chosen is best suited to target the patient’s unique skin needs and concerns.
Skin boosters are colloquially known as injectable moisturizers. It is a treatment that is based on multiple micro-injections of free hyaluronic acid into the skin to increase the hydration level in the skin. Common brands include Restylane Vital.
Profhilo also has the advantage of requiring only 5 injection points on each side of the face using the Bio-Aesthetic Points (BAP) technique which means the treatment only causes minimal downtime in the form of swelling over the injection points that usually subside within the day. In all 3 treatments, Profhilo has the least downtime due to this.
In summary
